20 Jan 2022 🎯 Sumo Bot MINDSTORMS® EV3 Advanced Robotics 🎯 St Mark’s Anglican Community School @ Hillarys

📌 St Marks Dr, Hillarys WA 6025

Sumo Bot MINDSTORMS® EV3 Advanced Robotics

Experience the cutting edge of technology with the introduction of LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 Advanced Robotics. Students will be captivated as they incorporate the newest generation of motors, sensors and software by programming using a Scratch based drag-and-drop programming tool to send commands directly into the intelligent brick.

Obstacle Course

Train your Sumo Bot to complete an Obstacle Course. Using two large motors, code your Sumo Bot to move each motors at different speed and power. Sumo Bot must complete the obstacle course without going out-of-bounds.

Follow the Line

The Sumo Bot uses reflected light via the colour sensor to detect when it is approaching an edge, and moves away from the edge. When the Colour Sensor on the robot senses a change in reflected light, (such as a dark line in its path), it reverses direction, turns 90 degrees and sets out again on its new course.

Sumo Wrestling

With the full training in Obstacle Course and Follow the Line, it’s time to train your Sumo Bot in its final challenge – Sumo Bot Wrestling. Your Sumo Bot will incorporate two touch sensors, as your Sumo Bot detects another opponent, it will charge at full power to push your opponent outside the Sumo Ring. Your Sumo Bot will also make use of a Colour Sensor to detect the Sumo Ring so that it does not go outside the Sumo Ring.

Keeping Kids, Families and Staff Safe

The health and well-being of our BRICKS 4 KIDZ® community is our priority. We want to assure you that we have maintained our thorough cleaning regimen to keep all kids and staff safe. Here’s how we tackle that problem:

  • Providing hand sanitiser to kids and staff when they start all our programs and after each break (we have plenty of hand sanitiser 😀);
  • Regularly washing all our equipment using antiseptic and washing machines; and
  • Consistently using disinfectant spray on all our equipment.

All children are welcome at our workshops from as young as 5 and up to 12, however all kids attending must be at least in Kindy in a primary school in order to attend.

Workshop Capacity

All our workshops are limited to 16 children and there will be at least 2 facilitators per workshop. We will keep our ratio at 1:8 thus you can rest assured that your kids will be well taken care of.

Food and Refreshment

Please note that food is not provided.  Please provide a nut-free snack and lunch for your child to enjoy during the workshop. Please make sure your child wears covered shoes, sunscreen and brings a hat!  We will supervise them outside at breaks when weather permits.
