The BRICKS 4 KIDZ® model was founded by Michelle Cote in St. Augustine, Florida. Michelle initially started an after-school Spanish class in the spring of 2008, and then thought to herself, “My son loves to play with LEGO® – maybe I could lead a creative science LEGO® after-school workshop too”. Michelle launched both the after-school Spanish class and the LEGO® workshop. She had three children sign up for the Spanish class, but 35 children signed up for the LEGO® workshop!
Today BRICKS 4 KIDZ® has over 750 locations in 45 countries. BRICKS 4 KIDZ® is a Child Safe Child Friendly organisation and our number one priority in any activity is the safety of children under our supervision. Our Child Safe Child Friendly policy is available ADD HERE for download.
Who is the team in Townsville?
I grew up in Townsville going to school and eventually university, starting my early career life as an archaeologist. In 2000, I ventured off (with my now husband) around Australia in a ute with a couple of swags. This travel inspired us to work and experience more of Australia, including 10 years in the Northern Territory (with five on Groote Eylandt) where I worked in financial services and business development. We have settled back in Townsville and love the laid back, tropical lifestyle that Townsville offers our family.
I am a big fan of LEGO and have enjoyed building LEGO creations since I was a kid. I love the creativity and imagination that LEGO encourages! While there is a fun element to Bricks 4 Kidz, I am also passionate about kids learning by building and creating (without electronic gadgets!).
Nicole’s working with children check number is 562547/2 and she holds her qualification in HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education & care setting.
THOMAS PYWELL – Instructor
ME: I’m originally from Newcastle and moved north with the Defence Force. I received an electronics trade but have now decided to pursue a career in medical science. I’m currently in studies now and enjoy it!
LEGO: I received a large helicopter to build for Christmas one year and have been loving LEGO ever since. I enjoy building things with moving parts or motors.
CHILDREN: I’ve run tours for children in the past through workshops educating about trades and technical skills and enjoyed the excitement voiced by the kids.
LOVE B4K: Educating children with the use of LEGO is enjoyable as an Instructor. Its debatable whether the children are having as much fun as me!
