Happy Australia Day to Newcastle Families!! 

To those who celebrate Australia Day, we hope you and your children have a truly lovely day, full of fun activities to create great memories! The weather is meant to be sunny with a tops of 31 degrees! It looks like an outdoor day for many! 😊

For some cool ideas on Newcastle and Hunter Valley activities for you and the kids, here are my top pics! These walks are worth checking out: 🚶

• Fernleigh Track. A former disused railway line, this is now a popular shared bikeway and walking track.
• Bathers Way. This stunning coastal walk stretches along our scenic coastline. Enjoy a dip in the beach or beachpool too!
• Glenrock Lagoon Walk. Discover a walk through the bush that takes you through a tropical rainforest with waterfalls.
  
• Nobby’s Beach Festival and Markets. Watch an aboriginal smoking ceremony, aboriginal dancers and artists are performing. Nobby’s will also have markets running until 5pm.
  
• Newcastle Beach. Hit the beach and while you are at it enjoy watching the footy teams (annual Beach 5s Rugby Festival played between Australia and New Zealand) on Nobbys Beach running until 4.30pm.
• Honeysuckle to Nobbys Beach. This harbour walk really captures the beautiful gardens of Newcastle. See the stunning Newy Harbour, parks and end up at the Beach.
  
• Walka Water Works.  Enjoy a picnic and take a stroll around the dam in the Maitland district, is also steeped in history!
• Islington Park. Take the dog to the local dog park or the kids to the playground which has a boat, swings, sculptures and a bike track for the kids.
  
• Maitland Park. Enjoy a picnic at Maitland Park. There is a 15 minute walking track to enjoy, bbq’s and playgym for the kids with a flying fox.
• Warners Bay, Lake Macquarie. Hire a bike, take a stroll, grab a morning drink and enjoy the beauty of our Lakes district. You’ll find quaint stores and an ice cream shop for a yummy treat!
