Coming to Maitland, in the Lower Hunter
Do you live near Maitland in the Hunter? If so, there is a heap of cool activities happening in the area this January you really should know about. Maitland and beyond has built new sporting facilities for the kids, there’s a movie night happening at Maitland Park, and there are heaps of awesome holiday kids activities to see. Here is our top 8 activities happening this January in the Hunter.
When: Open every day
1. New Harold Gregson Park in Central Maitland
Maitland now has a new outdoor sporting playspace for the kids of Maitland. The park has a skate park, basketball court, BMX track, bike paths, and a kids playground. It also has wind chimes to play. As you drive into Maitland town you can’t miss the new facility and it is worth taking the kids there for a play. So grab the scooter, bike, roller blades, or skateboard and head down! It’s also near local cafes so grab a coffee too while you’re there. There is a BBQ area and big beautiful shady trees with sandstone seating to sit under while the kids play. It makes for a lovely spot to have an outdoor picnic when you want to stretch your legs with the kids. What’s On – My Maitland

2. Maitland Park will come alive with exciting Australia Day activities
If you wish to participate in Australia Day activities Maitland Park will be providing a heap of kid-friendly activities, games, and performances. The council is holding a free BBQ so you can sit back and taste a delicious snag while the kids play in the playground. The aquatic centre is also bringing the fun and is offering free entry from 10 am to 4 pm if you want to cool off with a swim after a play in the park. What’s On – My Maitland

3. Maitland Aquatic Centre is Bringing Dive-in Movies
As the Australian sunsets Maitland Aquatic Centre will become a spectacular dive-in movie which is anticipated to be a splashy way to spend your evening celebrating. The council plans to screen a double feature; Paper Planes at 5:30 pm and Red Dog at 7:30 pm. Maitland Aquatic Centre has a splash pad earlier in the day from 11 am to 4 pm.
Also it’s not about the dive-in but we think you should know that the centre is offering holiday swim lessons throughout January if you want to improve your child’s swimming skills it’s a good time to do so. What’s On – My Maitland

4. Summer Brick Lovin’ School Holiday Workshops with Bricks 4 Kidz
Come and have a super rad time at the ultimate kids LEGO building experience in the Hunter region this January. Workshops run for a full day and are themed for fun. Coming to Maitland we have Mining and Crafting (inspired by Minecraft) and Movie Mash up! Immerse yourself in pearler beads, mosaic LEGO, technics, group building, and group games. Watch your child’s imagination come to life as they engineer amazing constructions from plans and as their talented little brains conjure up something magic with newly made friends! They’ll love it. This event is an all day event, perfect for busy parents.
